MIAMI, Florida – Guatemalan club Municipal will be out to avoid a second leg letdown when they meet Atletico Vega Real of the Dominican Republic in the 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf League Preliminary Round on Thursday night at the Estadio Doroteo Guamuch Flores in Guatemala City.

Municipal delivered an excellent performance in the first leg in the Caribbean, winning 4-0 to place themselves in prime position to reach the Round of 16.

Cesar Archila was one of the stars of the night, tallying a goal and contributing an assist in the victory. Marlon Sequen also delivered a moment of brilliance with a goal from a free kick taken from a very deep and narrow position on the left wing.

Along with FW Jose Martinez, who had a goal from five shots, including an effort that hit the post, Municipal will feel confident about their chances of having a drama-free night.

 

For Atletico Vega Real, there is still plenty to play for and a quick start from the visiting Dominicans could be just the thing to ignite a four-goal comeback.

Eliader Dorlus was one of the more active players in the first leg, with three shots taken, while Fritz-Gerald Gedna completed the most passes for his team, with 59, to go with two ball recoveries.

There is also the motivation for Atletico Vega Real to try to become the first team from the Dominican Republic to score a goal in the SCL, while Municipal can achieve their first SCL series victory with a win, draw or defeat by three goals or less.
