TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras – Motagua of Honduras will face Costa Rica’s Herediano in the 2018 Scotiabank Concacaf League final after earning a 3-2 win on aggregate over Tauro of Panama on Thursday night at the Estadio Tiburcio Carias Andino in Tegucigalpa.

Staring at a 2-1 deficit at the start of the night, the Catracho club rallied with a 2-0 win thanks to a Roberto Moreira penalty conversion and a Kevin Lopez strike.

Buoyed by a raucous home crowd, Motagua came out strong and Javier Estupinan was inches away from scoring in the 37’ but his header sailed wide.

The home fans would not have to wait long though, as a foul in the area gave Motagua a penalty and Moreira coolly converted the spot kick in the 42’ to make it 1-0.

Motagua never took its foot off the pedal and in the 72’ Lopez pounced on a loose ball inside the area and ripped a right-footed shot into net for a 2-0 lead.

Tauro was unable to muster enough to find a goal to level the aggregate, making for a second straight SCL final between teams from Honduras and Costa Rica.
