MIAMI – Vancouver Whitecaps FC reached the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup Final, its first in club history, and will meet Cruz Azul for the trophy on June 1 in Estadio Olímpico Universitario in Mexico City, Mexico.

By winning the 2024 Canadian Championship, Whitecaps FC qualified for the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup. The Whitecaps FC defeated Calgary FC in the quarterfinals, Pacific FC in the semifinals, and Toronto FC on penalties to win its fourth Canadian Championship.

The club’s campaign in the 2025 Champions Cup began in February against Deportivo Saprissa in Round One. The Canadian side scored the opening goal through Ryan Gauld but lost the first leg, 2-1, on a stoppage-time winner from Ariel Rodríguez. Brian White would respond with a brace for a 2-nil win in the second leg and the 3-2 victory on aggregate.

 

 

Whitecaps FC opened the Round of 16 with a 1-1 draw against CF Monterrey as Belal Halbouni and Roberto de la Rosa traded goals in Vancouver. Édier Ocampo and Brian White struck in the second leg to take a 2-2 draw at Estadio Corona in Torreón, Coahuila, winning the series on away goals.

 

 

In the quarterfinals, the same results repeated themselves against another Liga MX side in Pumas UNAM. Brian White and Adalberto Carrasquilla traded goals in the 1-1 draw in Vancouver before a Tristan Blackmon stoppage time goal would tie 2-2 in the second leg, winning the series on away goals.

An all-MLS semifinal saw Whitecaps FC open its offense with a 5-1 win on aggregate against Inter Miami CF. Brian White and Sebastian Berhalter struck in the first leg for a 2-nil victory in front of a record 53,837 attendance at BC Place. Goals from White, Pedro Vite, and Berhalter led to a 3-1 win in Florida in the second leg.

 

 

Vancouver Whitecaps FC is the third Canadian club to reach the Concacaf Champions Cup Final and will seek to be the first to win it after runners-up finishes from CF Montréal (formerly Montreal Impact) in the 2014-15 edition and Toronto FC in 2018.
