MIAMI – The 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup continues with Vancouver Whitecaps FC hosting CS Cartaginés in the second leg of their Round One series on Wednesday at BC Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The two are set for a thrilling battle as everything is in play after a goalless draw in the first leg in Costa Rica. Away goals will serve as the first tiebreaker, with extra time and a penalty shootout to be played, if necessary.
Vancouver Whitecaps FC is looking to replicate its form from the 2025 edition, when it enjoyed a run to the final before falling to Cruz Azul. The Canadian side has had previous success in a two-legged series against Central American clubs. In 2023, the Whitecaps eliminated Real España in the Round of 16, 7-3 on aggregate. In the first round of last year’s tournament, Jesper Sørensen’s side ousted Costa Rican club Deportivo Saprissa, 3-2 on aggregate.
CS Cartaginés is appearing in the competition for the first time since the 2013/14 edition. The Blanquiazules won the Champions Cup in 1994, clinching the title with a 3-2 victory over Mexican side Atlante FC in the Final, and aspire to win a second title.
The winner of the series will play reigning Leagues Cup champions Seattle Sounders FC in the Round of 16.
