Tigres complete incredible comeback
Tigres UANL had its back against the wall following a 3-nil First Leg defeat in Cincinnati.
The Second Leg in Mexico was a completely different story as they scored four goals in 49 minutes, led by an Ozziel Herrera brace. The Mexican side had taken the lead on aggregate until Kévin Denkey scored for FC Cincinnati to give the MLS side the advantage on away goals.
Fighting until the very last second, Tigres pulled off an unforgettable moment in the 90’+8’ when Fernando Gorriarán ripped a blast from outside the box for the series-winning goal to send the crowd into a frenzy and advance to the Quarterfinals.
The result saw Tigres become the second Mexican team to achieve such a comeback in a two-leg series, and the first to do so in the Round of 16. The feat also marked the third time the club scored five goals in a second leg, their highest total in this stage.
