MIAMI – The 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup continues with Deportivo Toluca FC hosting San Diego FC in the Second Leg of their Round of 16 series on Wednesday at Estadio Nemesio Díez in Toluca, Mexico.
The MLS side pulled off a massive 3-2 victory in the first leg despite receiving a pair of red cards and finishing the game with only nine players on the field.
David Vázquez notched a brace, and Anders Dreyer delivered the winner for San Diego. SDFC will be without two key players for this match as Marcus Ingvartsen and Manu Duah were sent off in the first leg.
Toluca’s goals both came from the penalty spot as Jesús Gallardo and Helinho converted successfully for the Liga MX champions.
San Diego became the first tournament debutant to defeat Toluca in Champions Cup history, ending the Mexican club’s four-match unbeaten streak against debutant teams. It also marked the fourth time a United States club earned a home victory scoring three goals against Mexican opposition in the tournament’s history.
The winner of this series on aggregate will advance to the Quarterfinals. Away goals serve as the first tiebreaker. If necessary, extra time and a penalty shootout will be played to decide a winner.
