MONTERREY, México.- Tigres was edged 1-0 by local rival Monterrey, while Pachuca suffered another narrow defeat in falling 1-0 at Atlas. CONCACAF.com takes a look at the weekend action involving the 2016-17 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League finalists.

In what was another feisty clash between crosstown rivals, Tigres (4W-4D-6L) dropped a 1-0 decision host Monterrey in the 2017 Liga MX Clausura. Cesar Montes’ 56th-minute goal off Dorlan Pabon’s left-sided corner kick proved to be the difference. The result snapped Tigres’ five-match winning streak in all competitions.
Despite the defeat, UANL did not lose any ground in the race to clinch a playoff spot. The Felinos remain in ninth place on 19 points, just one point behind eighth-place Pachuca with two league matches remaining in the season.
Atlas 1, Pachuca 0
Pachuca’s (5W-3D-5L) Liga MX scoring struggles continued in a 1-0 loss at Atlas on Saturday. Matias Alustiza headed in the game’s only goal in the 36th minute off Brayan Garnica’s right-sided cross.
The Tuzos, who elected to rest seven regulars, have now failed to find the back of the net in their last six league matches. Defenders Omar Gonzalez, Oscar Murillo and Victor Guzman; midfielders Raul Lopez, Erick Gutierrez and Jonathan Urretaviscaya; and forward Franco Jara all sat out.
Pachuca sits eighth in the Clausura table with 20 points.
