MIAMI – The Leagues Cup 2025 continued with six matches on Friday as part of Phase One of the Concacaf-sanctioned competition between MLS and Liga MX clubs, as they battle for the crown and three spots in the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup.

New York City FC 2-0 Club León

New York City FC earned a 2-nil victory against Club León at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey, USA.

It took just seven minutes for New York City to jump ahead as Justin Haak flicked a header perfectly to the back post where Alonso Martínez was there for the easy tap-in.

The MLS side doubled the score in the 32’ with a great team goal as a sharp through ball set up Martínez perfectly for the assist, as Agustín Ojeda put it away.

León fought in the second half in attempt to get on the board. They had a great chance in the 58’ when James Rodríguez stepped up to take a penalty kick, but goalkeeper Matt Freese came up with the save.

Columbus Crew 3-1 Club Puebla

Columbus Crew won 3-1 against Puebla at Lower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio, USA.

The reigning Leagues Cup champions opened the scoring in the 14’ when Diego Rossi sent a beautiful free kick over the top and Malte Amundsen smashed a header at the back post.

Two minutes later Rossi got his own goal as the Crew pieced together a sensational attack the length of the field.

The offensive fireworks continued in the 39’ when Andrés Herrera made a great run behind the defense and calmy netted the third.

Puebla got one back at the 45’+1’ through Esteban Lozano.

Houston Dynamo 0-2 Mazatlán FC

Mazatlán FC earned a 2-nil victory against Houston Dynamo at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas, USA.

The Mexican side took command early with a set-piece goal in the 25’ as Nicolas Benedetti whipped up a corner kick to find Facundo Almada for the elevated header.

Benedetti found newcomer Fábio Gomes for the latter’s second goal in as many games in the 57’.

The Liga MX side finished the night in second place and is in good position to advance.

Toluca FC 2-1 CF Montréal

Deportivo Toluca FC won 2-1 against CF Montréal at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey, USA.

The Canadian side jumped ahead when Efrain Morales scored a header in the 20’.

The lead was short-lived as the defending Liga MX champions responded three minutes later with a goal from Jesús Angulo.

Paulinho stole the show in the 26’ when he pulled off a stunning bicycle kick surrounded by defenders, in what ended being the winning goal.

Los Angeles FC 1-1 (4-2) Pachuca

Los Angeles FC took a 4-2 victory on penalties over CF Pachuca, after the two sides drew 1-1 in regulation, at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California, USA.

A bad Pachuca giveaway in the 10’ put LAFC in great attacking position and Nathan Ordaz found Denis Bouanga for the opening strike.

The Mexican club got their equalizer in the 32’ when Elías Manuel’s shot from the edge of the box found the back of the net.

Both teams ended regulation down a man as Ordaz was shown a red card for LAFC and Jhonder Cádiz got a red card for Pachuca.

LAFC keeper Thomas Hasal came up with a pair of saves in the shootout to keep tournament hopes alive for the MLS side.

Tigres UANL 2 -1 San Diego FC

Tigres UANL won 2-1 versus San Diego FC at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, California, USA.

It was once again the Ángel Correa show for Tigres as he delivered another brace.

He scored his first in the 31’ when Juan Brunetta’s strong shot rebounded off the keeper and Correa was there to clean it up.

Tomás Ángel got the equalizer for San Diego as his shot from within the box deflected off a defender and past the keeper.

Correa netted the winner in the 67’ off a San Diego turnover. The Argentine is the leading scorer in the tournament with four goals in two games for first place Tigres.
