TORREON, Mexico – Tigres (5W-5D-5L, 20 points) fell to ninth place in the 2016 Liga MX Clausura after a 2-1 loss at Santos on Saturday in front of a crowd of 29,3247 at the Estadio Corona.

The visitor is now winless in six of its last seven domestic outings and is one point off the playoff pace, while the third-place Guerreros (8-3-4, 27) clinched a postseason berth.

Bryan Rabello gave Santos a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute, taking a superb through ball in stride from Nestor Calderon, before beating goalkeeper Nahuel Guzman from 15-yards out.

After Jurgen Damm’s late first-half bid to level ended up in the arms of Santos custodian Agustin Marchesin, Tigres equalized in the 54th minute. Anselmo Vendrechovski "Juninho" headed home from 12 yards – just inside the right post – off a Rafael Sobis’ left-sided corner kick.

Calderon sealed the win in the 77th minute, converting a penalty kick after Hugo Ayala was whistled for a handball.

Tigres returns to action on Wednesday in the second leg of the 2015/16 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League final against host Club America, which won the series opener, 2-0.
