MIAMI, Florida Things stand on a knife’s edge for both the Portland Timbers and CD Marathon of Honduras going into the second leg of their 2021 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Round of 16 series on Tuesday night at Providence Park in Portland, Oregon.

The two teams battled to a thrilling 2-2 draw last week in the first leg in Honduras, and another exciting 90 minutes of football is to be expected in Portland.

Twice the Timbers took the lead in the first leg, only to see the Catracho club answer less than 10 minutes later on each occasion.

As always, MF Diego Valeri will be the danger man to watch for Portland. The Argentine veteran produced one of the top moments of the first week of games when his free kick from distance resulted in a Marathon own goal.

Along with attackers Felipe Mora and Eryk Williamson, the Timbers have the weapons to make for a prolific evening in front of goal.

However, Marathon have already shown their resilience in this series and with playmakers like Edwin Solano, Emilio Izaguirre and Kevin Hoyos, the visiting Hondurans will be undaunted by their task of getting a win on U.S. soil.

In their history of playing Central American sides at home in the SCCL, Portland have a 1W-1D-0L record, while Marathon are 1W-0D-3L when playing away to MLS sides.
