PACHUCA, Mexico – Pachuca attacker Hirving Lozano was selected Wednesday as recipient of the Scotiabank Best Young Player Award as the 2016/17 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League’s best player 21-years-old or younger.
The 21-year-old played in eight games, scoring a tournament-best eight goals and registering two assists.
He struck four times in the Tuzos’ 11-0 win over host Police United on September 13, 2016, and netted twice as Pachuca defeated visiting FC Dallas, 3-1, in the second leg of their semifinal series.
Earlier in his career, Lozano was the joint-top scorer at 2015 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship and earned the Golden Ball at the 2015 CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship.
