MIAMI – The 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup continues with CF Monterrey hosting CSD Xelajú MC in the Second Leg of their Round One series on Wednesday at Estadio BBVA in Monterrey, Mexico.

The winner of the series on aggregate will advance to the Round of 16. Away goals serve as the primary tiebreaker. If necessary, extra time and a penalty shootout will decide the winner.

Monterrey holds a slight advantage due to its away goal in the dramatic 1-1 draw in Guatemala. Joffré Escobar placed Xelajú in the lead in the 83’, before a late stunner from Jesús Corona in the 90’+2’ tied the match for the Mexican side.

Rayados aims to defend its advantage on home turf to advance to the Round of 16. Five-time winners in the tournament, the northern club last lifted the Champions Cup in 2021.

Xelajú is making its seventh appearance in the Champions Cup after returning for the first time since the 2012/13 edition, when Los Chivos reached the Quarterfinals stage.

Post-Match Data

It marked the third consecutive meeting between Xelajú and CF Monterrey in the competition and the second straight draw in the series (D-2 L-1). Playing at home, CSD Xelajú avoided defeat against “Rayados” for the first time in two matches in the all-time head-to-head, following the 3-1 loss on Mar-6-2013 in the Quarterfinals first leg and the 1-1 draw on Feb-4-2026, also in the First Round first leg.

It was the second draw for Xelajú at home in a first-leg match against a Liga MX club. The previous occasion was a 0-0 draw against Tigres UANL, a series in which the Guatemalan club failed to advance.

The match represented the third time Xelajú recorded a home draw in the first leg of any series in Concacaf Champions Cup history, and the first with goals (1-1).

For CF Monterrey, it was the ninth away draw in a first-leg match at any stage of the tournament (including finals). In those cases, Monterrey advanced four times.
