LOS ANGELES – The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 continued with CF Monterrey defeating Urawa Red Diamonds 4-nil in Group E on Wednesday at Rose Bowl Stadium in Los Angeles, California.
Nelson Deossa struck from long-range with a left-footed hit in the 30’ to give Rayados the lead.Monterrey doubled its lead through Germán Berterame in the 34’, slotting the ball into the bottom right corner from the left end of the box to capitalize on an assist from Alfonso Alvarado.
Jesús Corona scored the third for the Liga MX side in the 38’ with a left-footed rocket from distance.
Berterame secured his brace to round out the result for the Regios in 90+7’ with a goal from inside the penalty area.
With the win, the Mexican side reached five points to finish second in its group and claim a place in the Knockout Stage.
Monterrey will face German side Borussia Dortmund in the Round of 16 on Tuesday in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
