GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Guadalajara announced Friday that Mexico international Marco Fabian will return to the club after spending a year on loan at Cruz Azul.
The addition is one of several made recently by Chivas ahead of the 2015 Clausura as it bids to avoid relegation. The 11-time Mexican champion, which finished the 2014 Liga MX Apertura in 16th place with a 3W-7D-7L record, also brought in defender Miguel Ponce, forward Erick Torres, as well as midfielders Raul Lopez and Isaac Brizuela, earlier this month.
"I am very glad and happy to be here again at home,” said Fabian, who won the 2013/14 CONCACAF Champions League with Cruz Azul. "I had the opportunity to talk with the directors, to talk with the coaching staff, to find new projects. I know that I arrive at a difficult time, but for me it is the best challenge because I come to bring my grain of sand in order for this to work, in order for this go forward and I come to you with a stronger commitment than ever before to help.”
With La Maquina, Fabian played in 31 Liga MX games and scored eight goals. He netted one goal in nine CONCACAF Champions League matches with the Mexico City-based side.
In 2014, Fabiab took part in two FIFA competitions. The 25-year-old, a 2012 Olympic gold-medal winner, played in three games for Mexico at the World Cup in Brazil and another three at the Club World Cup with Cruz Azul.
