FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The Leagues Cup 2025 Semifinals kicked off with Inter Miami CF securing a 3-1 win against Orlando City SC on Wednesday at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA.
Marco Pašalič scored the go-ahead goal for Orlando City in the 45’+1 with a powerful left-footed hit from the center of the box.
Orlando conceded a penalty in the 75’, with defender David Brekalo shown a red card.
Lionel Messi converted the attempt from the penalty spot in the 77’ to equalize for Inter Miami.
Messi collected his brace in the 88’, combining with Jordi Alba with a give-and-go to break into the box before slotting the ball at the right bottom corner in what was the match-winning goal.
Telasco Segovia rounded out the result for Inter Miami in the 90’+1’ with a chipped finish inside the box. Luis Suárez provided the assist.
With the victory, Inter Miami CF secured a place in the Leagues Cup 2025 Final. The MLS side also earned a berth to the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup as a finalist.
