ALAJUELA, Costa Rica – Costa Rican side Alajuelense presented Sunday midfielder Alexander Lopez as its newest acquisition.
The Honduras international, who signed a one-year contract, recently completed his third stint with Olimpia, winning the 2017 Scotiabank CONCACAF League title and being named to the competition’s Best XI (8 games/1 goal/tournament-best 4 assists).
“I'm happy to be in a great team,” said Lopez. “I like to win and I want to win the championship. I know that the pressure is very high. Alajuelense will have a player who is going to go all out in order to win.”
At the club level, the 25-year-old has also played in the USA (Houston Dynamo: 2013-15) and Saudi Arabia (Al-Khaleej: 2016).
With Honduras, Lopez has competed in the CONCACAF Gold Cup (2013: 5 games/0 goals; 2017: 3/0), the FIFA U-17 World Cup (2009: 3/0), the 2012 Olympic Games (5/1) and the Copa Centroamericana (2011: 2/0; 2017 champion: 1/0).
Lopez is joining former Olimpia teammates -- and fellow Hondurans – forward Roger Rojas and midfielder Luis Garrido at the Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto.
