MIAMI, Florida – The 2023 Leagues Cup knockout stage begins on Wednesday with four matches to kick off the Round of 32.

Argentina superstar and 2022 FIFA World Cup winner Lionel Messi and Inter Miami return to action on Wednesday and will face in-state rivals Orlando City SC at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.

Messi already has amassed three goals in just two games against Cruz Azul and Atlanta United and will be aiming to add to his total against an Orlando City side that finished first in their group ahead of the Houston Dynamo and Santos Laguna.

After topping Austin FC and FC Juarez to win their group, Liga MX side Mazatlan FC set their sights on another Texan team in FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.

Mazatlan finished with five points to win their group, while FC Dallas came second in their group, ahead of Necaxa and slightly behind Charlotte FC.

It will feel like old times at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas on Thursday when Liga MX side Pachuca face the Houston Dynamo. Pachuca are the top seed out of Liga MX and advanced straight to the Round of 32, while Houston finished second in their group.

These two teams squared off seven times between 2007 and 2010 in Concacaf Champions Cup and North American SuperLiga action. It will also be a chance for Dynamo MF Hector Herrera to play against the club with whom he made his professional debut.

The fourth and final match of the night will pit Los Angeles FC against FC Juarez at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California.

As the winner of 2022 MLS Cup, LAFC received a bye directly to the Round of 32. FC Juarez defeated Austin FC 3-1 on Saturday night to capture a second-place finish in their group and a place in the knockout round.
