MIAMI, Florida – This Friday the 2023 Leagues Cup kicks off with 47 teams across Major League Soccer (MLS) and Liga MX beginning a journey to the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup.

The top three finishers in the 2023 Leagues Cup, to be played in the United States and Canada, will qualify for the next edition of the Concacaf Champions Cup, making every match a chance to take a step closer to Concacaf glory.

Things begin with the Group Stage in which 45 teams will compete. The 45 teams competing in the Group Stage are divided into 15 groups of three teams, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the Round of 32 after round-robin play.

Los Angeles FC and Pachuca have automatically advanced already to the Round of 32 as the top seeds from each league.

LAFC achieved top seed status as the winners of the 2022 MLS Supporters’ Shield, while Pachuca held the best aggregate record during the 2022 season in Liga MX to clinch their standing as the top seed from Mexican football.

The Leagues Cup Group Stage will take place July 21-31, followed by the knockout stage on the following dates:

Round of 32: August 2-4

Round of 16: August 6-8

Quarterfinals: August 11-12

Semifinals: August 15

Third-Place Match: August 19

Final: August 19

The semifinal winners will qualify for the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup in addition to a place in the Final.

The two teams that are defeated in the semifinal round will meet in a Third-Place Match, with the winner of that contest advancing to the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup.

The Champion of the 2023 Leagues Cup will qualify directly for the Round of 16 of the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup, while the Runner-Up and Third-Place team will qualify to Round One.
