MIAMI – The 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup continues with Los Angeles FC hosting Real CD España in the second leg of their Round One series on Tuesday at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California, USA. 

The California side enters in command of the series after earning a 6-1 victory in the first leg in Honduras. The result for LAFC was highlighted by a hat-trick from Denis Bouanga, and four goal contributions (1 goal, 3 assists) from Son Heung-Min, who made his debut in the Concacaf Champions Cup.

Real España need to win the second leg by at least five goals to turn the series around. Away goals serve as the first tiebreaker, with extra time and a penalty shootout to be played, if necessary.

The winner on aggregate will face reigning Concacaf Central American Cup champions LD Alajuelense in the Round of 16.

Denis Bouanga recorded his second hat-trick in the competition, the first coming against LD Alajuelense (Mar-9-2023) in the first leg of the Round of 16 at Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto (CRC). With his three goals against Real España, he reached 13 total goals, becoming Los Angeles FC’s all-time leading scorer in the Concacaf Champions Cup and the MLS player with the most hat-tricks (2) in the tournament since 1996. With 13 goals to his name, Denis Bouanga surpassed the 10 scored by Costa Rican Álvaro Saborío with Real Salt Lake for an MLS club.

Real España’s 6-1 defeat against Los Angeles FC marked the worst home loss for a Honduran club in the history of the Concacaf Champions Cup, surpassing CD Marathon’s 6-2 defeat against Pumas UNAM (Feb-20-2019) in the first leg of the Round of 16.

Son Heung-Min reached 3 assists in the Concacaf Champions Cup and became the first Los Angeles FC player to record three assists in a single match in tournament history. Son Heung-Min also scored his first goal, becoming the first South Korean player to score in the competition since the 1994 edition.
