MIAMI – The 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup Round of 16 saw one of the most memorable comebacks with Tigres UANL defeating FC Cincinnati, 5-4, on aggregate.

The Mexican side lost 3-nil on the road in the First Leg but always knew heading back home would keep them alive in the series. It took just 49 minutes for Tigres to rack up four goals, led by an Ozziel Herrera brace.

The hosts were in a great spot to advance until Kévin Denky scored for FC Cincinnati in the 65’, to swing the advantage back to the MLS side on away goals.

With the clock ticking and elimination inching closer, Fernando Gorriarán unleashed a vicious shot from outside the box and past the keeper in the 90’+8’ to deliver an unforgettable winner.

Here’s a look at the numbers behind the historic rally.

-    Tigres became the first club in tournament history to overturn a 3-nil deficit in the Round of 16. There have been nine total cases, where only the Monterrey-based club achieved the comeback.

-    Tigres scored the second-highest number of goals (5) by a club that overturned a 3-nil deficit in two-leg series, only surpassed by the six goals scored by Real España vs. Liberia (6-0) in the 2009/10 Preliminary Round, and Club América vs. CS Herediano (6-0) in the 2014/15 Semifinals.

-    Tigres join Club América (2019) as the second Mexican club in tournament history to have two different players score braces in the same Round of 16 match (Rodrigo Aguirre and Ozziel Herrera).

-    Tigres UNANL became the club with the most braces (4) in the Round of 16 in tournament history.

-    The feat also marked the third time the club scored five goals in a second leg, their highest total in this stage.
