COLON, Panama -- Sergio Guzman has resigned from his position as head coach of Arabe Unido.
The Monday announcement came two days after the Expreso Azul fell 5-1 to Chorrillo FC in the 2017 Panamanian Apertura final.
Guzman took the club’s managerial reins in January 2015, going to five domestic finals and winning three titles. His record in 141 games was 71W-33D-37L.
The 47-year-old’s most memorable international achievements include leading Arabe to the 2016/17 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League (SCCL) quarterfinals and the 2017 Scotiabank CONCACAF League semifinals. The remarkable SCCL run featured home and away victories over Monterrey – the first time a Panamanian side ever triumphed in Mexico.
