MIAMI, Florida –
Fresh off his two-goal performance in the 2-2 draw in last week’s Final first leg in Mexico City, Pumas FW Juan Ignacio Dinenno was at it again, scoring another two goals to lead Pumas to a 2-0 triumph over Pachuca at the Estadio Olimpico Universitario in Mexico City.
Both sides had chances throughout the first hour, but Pumas would soon mount the pressure and just a minute after a reaction save from Pachuca GK Oscar Ustari on a Jose Caicedo header, Dinenno notched his first goal of the game in the 65’ with a thumping header past Ustari to make it 1-0.
Dinenno wasn’t done, either, and five minutes later in the 70’, it was 2-0 with the Argentine striking again.
This time the goal came via a counterattack in which a Diogo pass took a slight deflection off a Pachuca defender and fell right into the path of Dinenno, who beat Ustari with a right-footed finish.
From there, GK Alfredo Talavera and the Pumas defense took over, keeping the Pachuca attack at bay to nail down the precious three points to secure a spot in the Liga MX postseason.
