MIAMI, Florida – The Philadelphia Union are poised to clinch a semifinal berth in their first ever Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League as they take on Atlanta United in the second leg of their 2021 SCCL quarterfinal on Tuesday night at Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania.
The Union lead 3-0 on aggregate following last week’s impressive win in Atlanta in which FW Kacper Przybylko found the back of the net twice to give him a 2021 SCCL leading four goals.
Not to be outdone was GK Andre Blake. The 2017 Concacaf Gold Cup Golden Glove winner from Jamaica made seven saves as part of his clean sheet, including five first half stops, all coming in spectacular fashion.
Also contributing with solid performances were Anthony Fontana, who scored the third Union goal, and MF Jamiro Monteiro.
While Philadelphia boast a three-goal advantage in the series, they would be wise to be wary of Atlanta United’s comeback capability.
The Georgia side have an arsenal of weapons, among them FW Josef Martinez, who has five career SCCL goals, and MF Ezequiel Barco. Both Martinez and Barco have the ability to score quickly and in bunches.
An early goal from Atlanta United could make for a very compelling night between two MLS team trying to reach the final four of the tournament.
