Miami, FL – With less than a month to go until the knockout stages of the 2023 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League, the leagues in Costa Rica, Honduras and Panama saw intense derbies full of emotion.

In Honduras, the 2022 Concacaf League champion CD Olimpia won the classic against Motagua FC by a score of 3-1.

The leader of the 2023 Clausura Tournament of  the Honduran League,  got the victory thanks to the scores of Jerry Bengtson, Jorge Benguche and Gabriel Araújo. Motagua's goal was converted by Lucas Campana.

While Real España, the other qualifier for the Champions League, beat visiting CD Honduras Progreso 3-1. The goals were scored by Ramiro Rocca, Jhow Benavidez and José Reyes.

CD Olimpia, which will face Atlas de México, is the leader with 13 points after 15 rounds;  Real España, is fourth (9 units) and prepares to face Vancouver Whitecaps FC, and Motagua FC, seventh (4), will face Pachuca of Liga MX.

Tie in the Costa Rican derby

In the Costa Rican League was held the match between Saprissa and  LD Alajuelense that ended 1-1, with goals from Kendall Waston and Carlos Mora, respectively.

The Costa Rican league is led by Sporting with 12 points, while LDA is second with 11 points. The Ticos are preparing to face  MLS's Los Angeles FC.

Taurus FC victory

Tauro FC of Panama achieved an important victory away in the duel against Plaza Amador by 2-1, with goals from Breidy Goluz and Irving Gudiño.

The Panamanian representative is in second place in the Eastern Conference with seven points, behind Sporting San Miguelito.

While in El Salvador, Alianza FC won 1-0 against Chalatenango, with a goal from Michell Mercado.

Alianza FC is the leader of the 2023 Clausura Tournament in El Salvador with nine points, after playing three matchdays. The Salvadorans will face the Philadelphia Union of MLS.

The knockout stages will be held March 7-16, 2023 to find qualifiers for the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Champions League, where five Central American teams hope to continue in the Concacaf championship.
