MEXICO CITY – Cruz Azul is putting on the final touches of its preseason, knowing that the next five months promise to be some of the busiest and most meaningful in club history.

With Liga MX play opening next week, defense of its CONCACAF Champions League title starting in August and a trip to Morocco for the 2014 FIFA Club World Cup slated for December, La Maquina has a lot on its plate.

Head coach Luis Fernando Tena, though, is confident that his squad is prepared for all upcoming challenges.

"I'm happy with what has been done in the preseason,” said the 56-year-old at a press conference on Saturday.  “There are things left to fine tune and this will happen as we go through the championship.”

The Mexico City-based side’s search for its first Mexican league title since 1997 commences at home on Saturday against fellow 2014/15 CCL qualifier Pachuca.

“I'm sure that no team will start at 100 percent, but I think there are many well-armed teams such as our next opponent Pachuca,” Tena added.  “But we are ready to compete and eager to do it."
