HOUSTON – A potential Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League final preview will be contested on Saturday, when Club America and Tigres meet in a friendly at BBVA Compass Stadium.
The Liga MX powers are currently in the SCCL semifinals and, would claim berths in the Clausura playoffs if the regular season ended today.
Club America (6W-3D-2L, 21 points), the defending SCCL champion, currently sits third in the standings, only three points behind table-topping Monterrey. The Aguilas have won three straight domestic games, scoring two goals or more in each outing.
In its search for a second consecutive Liga MX title, Tigres (4-4-3, 16 points) has drawn its last two matches and occupies seventh place.
The sides met last month as Tigres struck for four goals after the 70th minute in a 4-1 win at home.
When the SCCL semifinals resume next month with second-leg encounters, Club America and Tigres will host Santos and Queretaro, respectively. The opener in each series ended scoreless.
