MEXICO CITY – Not only did Dario Benedetto play a major role in Club America advancing to the 2014/15 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League (SCCL) final, he also claimed a slice of tournament history.

The 24-year-old Argentinean scored four of the Aguilas’ first five goals in a 6-0 semifinal, second leg win over visiting Herediano on Wednesday at the Estadio Azteca.  Thanks to that decisive victory, the five-time CONCACAF champion progressed to the two-legged curtain closer against the Impact de Montreal, 6-3 on aggregate.

As a result, Benedetto now shares the record for the most goals scored in a single CCL game with Jose Maria Cardenas, Nicolas Muñoz and Javier Orozco.

Additionally, the former Club Tijuana standout established a new mark for the fastest four-goal performance, completing the feat within 32 minutes of the opening whistle, nine minutes less than Muñoz.
