COUVA, Trinidad & Tobago – DirecTV W Connection (Trinidad & Tobago) earned a 3-1 win over Inter Moengotapoe (Suriname) to finish first in Group 1 and book a place in the 2016 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championship semifinals. 

The Savonetta Boys completed first-round play with a perfect 3W-0D-0L record thanks to single tallies from Jamal Charles (9’), Malik St. Prix (81’) and Hughtun Hector (90’). Kareem Kwasie (90’+2) netted a late consolation goal for the Surinamese power, which had posted a shutout over Atlantico FC (Dominican Republic) in its previous outing. 

Charles found the back of the net in all three games, giving him four for the competition. 

In the opener, Atlantico FC (Dominican Republic) registered its first-ever CFU win as goals by Leinner Perez (16’), Cristian Casseres (56’) and Wuiswell Isea (60’) – plus an own-goal by Felix Siar (50’) – paved the way for a memorable result against CS Moulien (Guadeloupe). 

The CFU champion, runner-up and winner of the third-place match will earn places in the 2016/17 SCCL.
