MEXICO CITY – For the fifth time in six editions of the CONCACAF Champions League, the final will be contested between two Mexican teams, when Cruz Azul hosts Toluca in first leg play on Tuesday at the Estadio Azul.
This will be Cruz Azul’s third appearance in the final and its first since 2009/10, while Toluca is making its debut at this stage.
Neither has ever lifted the CCL trophy, but one thing is certain – there will be a new Confederation champion after Monterrey’s three-reign of excellence.
