VANCOUVER, Canada -- Two road games within a short period is difficult enough.

Add the fact Vancouver Whitecaps FC must play at the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night and then travel to Mexico to face Tigres in the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League on Tuesday night, it becomes even a greater challenge.

While Vancouver head coach Carl Robinson faces a balancing act, he hasn’t signaled any line-up possibilities.

“It’s not going to be easy, but that’s what we like,” said Robinson.  “Us Canadians, I say us Canadians now, that’s what we’re about…proving people wrong.  Going into the lion’s den as you call it and try to get a result."

Whitecaps FC kicked off the Major League Soccer season with a scoreless home draw with the Philadelphia Union last Sunday.  The prospect of facing current Mexican champion Tigres, however, will prove a more difficult mountain to climb.

"The game is not won over one leg," Robinson remarked.  "It certainly can be lost.  We know that.  But we’re in the mix and we’ve got a chance at winning it.  We need to play to our maximums and perform at our levels.  Maybe if they don’t, then we’ve got a chance.”

Costa Rica international Christian Bolaños (right knee patellar tendonitis), who had his first full training session on Wednesday, could see his first action of the year in either game, Robinson said.
