TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras – Motagua captured its 15th Honduran league title with a 3-0 win over visiting Honduras Progreso in the second leg of the 2017 Clausura final on Sunday at the Estadio Tiburcio Carias Andino, claiming the series 7-1 on aggregate.
The Ciclon Azul defended its crown by going unbeaten in its last 14 games of the season.

- Erick Andino gave Motagua a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute off a well-worked corner that saw Carlos Discua receive the short kick at the upper-left corner of the box. The 32-year-old midfielder played a one-touch to the streaking Andino, who right-footed it into the back of the net from six-yards out.
- Andino doubled the advantage in the 49th minute, holding off defender Roy Smith in the box to win Omar Elvir’s header and poke home with his right foot from eight yards.
- Motagua added an insurance in the 74th minute, when Elvir intercepted an errant pass in Honduras Progreso’s end and played the ball to an unmarked Discua, who finished easily with his left foot from 12-yards out.
- Andino scored in both games of the two-legged final for three total goals, while Discua also netted in both for two tallies.
- Motagua is unbeaten in 14 consecutive games (9W-5D-0L).
- Motagua will compete in the 2018 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League.
