MIAMI, Florida – Monterrey of Mexico will be looking to avoid any surprises when they host Atletico Pantoja of the Dominican Republic in the second leg of the 2021 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Round of 16 on Thursday night at Estadio BBVA in Monterrey, Mexico.
Rayados earned a 3-0 win in the first leg against the Caribbean side in the first leg in the Dominican Republic, putting themselves in a good position to close out the series and advance to the quarterfinals.
But Atletico Pantoja will come into the encounter with hopes of a strong start and an early goal to turn things around.
Despite their defeat in the first leg, the Dominican Republic outfit played well, with clear tactical ideas and good defensive discipline.
FWs Ronaldo Vasquez and Lisandro Cabrera will be motivated to try to give the Monterrey defense something to think about.
However, the Mexican hosts can certainly counter with a plethora of weapons, including FW Vincent Janssen, who scored in the first leg, and dangerous winger Dorlan Pabon.
