CARSON, California – Just a week prior to its 2015/16 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League (SCCL) debut, the LA Galaxy announced Thursday that it has mutually parted ways with Panama international goalkeeper Jaime Penedo.

The 33-year-old, who helped the Panamanians to a third-place finish in the recently completed CONCACAF Gold Cup, joined the Galaxy on August 5, 2013, on a free transfer. He played the previous six years with Municipal, helping it capture four Guatemalan league titles.

“We thank Jaime for his contributions on and off the field as a member of the Galaxy,” said head coach and general manager Bruce Arena. “We wish him the best of luck in the future.”

With LA, the 33-year-old appeared in 54 regular season games, posting a 25W-17D-12L record and was a member of the squad that captured the 2014 crown.

Penedo has earned nearly 110 caps for Panama and won the 2009 Central American Cup. He has competed in two Gold Cup finals (2005, 2013), winning the award for the tournament’s top goalkeeper on each occasion.

The Galaxy will open its fifth SCCL campaign on August 6 against visiting Caribbean champion Central FC.
