CIUDAD VICTORIA, Mexico -- Correcaminos signed Honduras international Rubilio Castillo from Motagua, the Liga Ascenso MX side announced Saturday.
The 23-year-old forward scored the game-winning goal in the second leg of the 2014 Honduran Apertura final against Real Sociedad to give Motagua the title and a place in the 2015/16 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League (SCCL).
Castillo -- rumored to be the transfer target of multiple European sides earlier in the summer -- started his professional career with Vida, scoring on his debut in a 1-1 draw with Hispano on September 27, 2008.
He was loaned to Deportes Savio in 2012, ultimately returning to Vida and winning the 2013 Apertura scoring crown with 12 goals.
In December 2013, Castillo joined Motagua, netting 35 goals in 67 official matches.
Castillo made one appearance for Honduras in the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup and scored in the Catrachos 3-0 win over host Venezuela on Friday.
In SCCL play, Motagua (1W-0D-1L) currently sits second in Group E, three points behind defending-champion Club America. Castillo did not play in either of the Ciclon Azul’s opening two matches.
