ANTIGUA, Guatemala – Newly-crowned Guatemalan champion Antigua GFC announced Thursday the signing of Guatemala international Kendel Herrarte.

The 23-year-old midfielder had spent his entire professional career with Guatemalan power Comunicaciones (2011-2015), where he was part of six consecutive title-winning squads from the 2012 Apertura – 2015 Clausura.

With Guatemala, Herrarte has competed in two editions of the Central American Cup (2013: 4 games, 0 goals; 2014: 3 games, 0 goals), a CONCACAF Gold Cup (2015: 1 game, 0 goals) and one World Cup qualifier (June 12, 2015: 0-0 home draw v Bermuda).

He appeared in five games at the 2011 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship, helping host Guatemala to a third-place finish and a spot in the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

In another move, Antigua confirmed that Herrarte’s teammate at Comunicaciones, Mexican forward Agustin Herrera, will also be joining the squad. The 30-year-old has extensive Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League experience, netting five career goals (4 with Santos, 1 with Comunicaciones).
