PORTLAND, Oregon -- The Portland Timbers acquired Jamaica international Michael Seaton from D.C. United on Thursday in exchange for targeted allocation money and an international roster slot through December 31, 2015.
Seaton, a 19-year-old forward, had played in five Major League Soccer regular-season games with United after signing with the club on January 14, 2013. The Spanish Town, Jamaica, native has spent the majority of his career on loan with USL side Richmond Kickers (22 games, 7 goals) and Sweden’s Örebro (4 games, 0 goals).
Making his senior debut for Jamaica on November 15, 2013, in a loss against Trinidad & Tobago, Seaton has earned 13 caps and scored two goals, both in friendlies (March 5, 2014, v St. Lucia and May 26, 2014, v Serbia). He was part of the Reggae Boyz squad that won the 2014 Caribbean Cup and was a late substitute in a 3-1 loss to Mexico in the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup final.
D.C. United will open its 2015/16 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League campaign at Panama’s Arbae Unido on August 19.
