ZURICH -- FIFA announced Tuesday the referees and assistant referees selected for the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup, which will be contested December 11-21 in Morocco.
The United States’ Mark Geiger was one of six referees chosen, while Mark Hurd (USA) and Joe Fletcher (Canada) were among 12 assistant referees called to duty.
In the 2009 edition of the competition¸ an all-CONCACAF crew – Referee: Benito Archundia (Mexico); Assistant Referee 1: Hector Vergara (Canada) and Assistant Referee 2: Marvin Torrentera (Mexico) – officiated the final between Argentina’s Estudiantes de la Plata and Barcelona of Spain.
