MIAMI — The 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup concluded the quarterfinals stage this week with the final four clubs moving on in the title race.

Here is a look at the best moments from this past week’s Concacaf Champions Cup Quarterfinals

Club America surpasses 100 goals

Club America’s high-powered offense, the most potent of the quarterfinals, scored nine goals in their two-leg series against the New England Revolution. Cristian Calderon’s goal in the first leg, the third for the Liga MX side, was historic because it was the club's 100th CCC goal since the 2008-09 format change. The seven-time winners trail Santos Laguna (141), Cruz Azul (136), and Monterrey (126). Henry Martin, Alejandro Zendejas, and Brian Rodriguez scored in both legs.

Henry Martin also joined the list of Club America's historic goal scorers, equaling the record of the legendary Carlos Hermosillo with eight goals, to tie for third place.

Monterrey come back in Miami

CF Monterrey had a clear goal in their series with Inter Miami CF to leave the first leg with a lead. Tomas Aviles scored the opening goal for the Florida side but two second-half goals helped the Mexican side depart the first leg with a victory.

Maximiliano Meza was essential to both goals, tying the match himself and providing the winning assist. The first-leg victory positioned Monterrey to close the series with a 3-1 win in the second leg.

Columbus makes first semifinals

With their win in the penalty shootout, Columbus Crew SC attained its first-ever qualification for the tournament semifinals. In addition, the reigning MLS champions ended a 40-year, 7-month, and 25-day streak during which Tigres UANL had not lost a tie after drawing the first leg.

The penalty shootout between Tigres UANL and Columbus Crew was the 7th in the tournament's quarterfinals history to be decided by penalties. Four times, the home teams from the final decisive game had advanced. Columbus is the third visiting team to achieve this accomplishment.

Schulte spectacular in PKs

Goalkeeper Patrick Schulte was a critical factor in Columbus Crew’s win on penalties at Tigres UANL. After giving up the opening goal in the second leg to Tigres striker Andre-Pierre Gignac, the 23-year-old goalkeeper went on to finish the match with six saves.

When two legs and extra time were not enough to separate the two sides, Schulte only grew with the pressure. He denied Tigres legends Gignac and Guido Pizarro in the first spot kicks for the home side to help his team win and advance, 4-3 on penalties.

Rondon continues to make history with Pachuca

Salomon Rondon was spectacular with a hat-trick in back-to-back matches. His three goals for Pachuca in the first leg at Herediano led the Liga MX side to its first win in Costa Rica. Rondon extended his tally with a goal in the second leg to bring his overall total to seven. With these goals, Rondon became the Venezuelan with the most goals in the tournament’s history.

He also positioned himself as the second all-time top scorer for the Tuzos in the tournament, surpassing Gabriel Caballero and Franco Jara with six goals. With nine goals each, Hirving Lozano and Ulises Mendivil are the top scorers for CF Pachuca in the Concacaf Champions Cup.
