MIAMI, Florida – Unlike the last several editions of the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League in which just one team from the Caribbean qualified for the tournament, in 2021 two teams from the islands will take part in the Confederation’s premier club competition.

Arcahaie of Haiti and Atletico Pantoja of the Dominican Republic will learn of their opponents in this week’s Draw and for Arcahaie it will represent a maiden voyage in the SCCL.

The Haitian club punched their ticket to the 2021 SCCL by virtue of reaching the semifinals of the 2020 Scotiabank Concacaf League.

Arcahaie are one of two teams making their SCCL debut in the 2021 edition and are just the fourth Haitian club to appear in the tournament, following in the footsteps of Tempete (2011/12), Valencia (2013/14) and Don Bosco (2016/17).

The SCCL is slightly more familiar territory for Atletico Pantoja. The Dominican Republic side qualified as the 2020 Flow Concacaf Caribbean Club Championship’s best ranked team and will play in their second SCCL.

The first appearance in the SCCL for Atletico Pantoja came in the 2019 edition when they were eliminated by the New York Red Bulls of MLS in the Round of 16.

Atletico Pantoja became the all-time leader in SCCL appearances among teams from the Dominican Republic with two, surpassing Cibao FC (1).
