OTTAWA – Canada’s road to the 2016/17 CONCACAF Champions League (CCL) will start on April 22, when Ottawa Fury FC hosts FC Edmonton in a 2015 Amway Canadian Championship preliminary round, first leg encounter.

That all-North American Soccer League meeting will launch a five-month long journey between the nation’s five professional clubs, ultimately crowning a champion later in the summer.  Canada Soccer released the eight-game schedule on Thursday for the eighth edition of the competition, which determines the CCL’s Canadian representative.

Due to Canada being the location for the three international competitions in June and July -- FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™, CONCACAF Gold Cup and the Pan American Games -- the opening two rounds of the 2015 Amway Canadian Championship will be played in April and May, before concluding in August.

Canada’s trio of Major League Soccer-based sides -- Vancouver Whitecaps FC (seeded #1), Toronto FC (seeded #2) and the Impact de Montreal (seeded #3) – will join the fray in the semifinal round.

Toronto has won the title a record four occasions, while Montreal – a 2014/15 CCL quarterfinalist -- has lifted the trophy three times, including the last two.
