OTTAWA – The Canadian Soccer Association announced Friday the schedule for the 2014 Amway Canadian Championship, an annual competition that determines the country’s representative in the CONCACAF Champions League.

This seventh edition of the tournament will see the Ottawa Fury, Canada’s newest North American Soccer League club, and FC Edmonton, square off in a two-legged preliminary round series.  The winner will secure a place in the semifinals, where it will join Major League Soccer (MLS) sides Impact de Montreal (defending champion), Toronto FC and the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Those three clubs have been seeded according to their final positions in 2013 MLS play, while the preliminary-round winner will automatically be seeded fourth.

The semifinal and final stages will also be contested on a home-and-away basis with the champion earning the right to represent Canada in the 2014-2015 CONCACAF Champions League.
