PANAMA CITY – Tauro FC defeated San Francisco FC, 2-1, in a thrilling Panamanian matchup in the 2024 Concacaf Central American Cup on Wednesday at the Estadio Rommel Fernández in Panama City, Panama.

Josué Vergara had an early opportunity for the hosts in the 5’ from a corner kick, but his header was wide of the near post.

San Francisco goalkeeper José Guerra denied Cristian Quintero in the 41’, as the latter attempted to score before the halftime break. 

Omar Browne had the first dangerous look for Tauro in the second half with a long-range attempt in the 48’, but Guerra once again denied the hosts.

Édgar Góndola opened the scoring in the 73’ to give San Francisco the lead on a corner kick opportunity, making a run into space and connecting with a header to the near post.

Ronaldo Dinolis equalized for Tauro in the 83’ following a delivery into the box from the right wing from Ricardo French.

Ricardo Molina completed the comeback for the hosts in the 89’ with a powerful left-footed strike inside the box.

With the historic first win for the debutants in the Central American Cup, Tauro FC concludes its participation in third place of Group A with three points. 

San Francisco FC also closed out its 2024 campaign by finishing fifth in Group A with one point.
