MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup continues with Sporting San Miguelito hosting Cacique Diriangén FC in Group B on Wednesday at Estadio Universitario in Penonomé, Panama.

Sporting San Miguelito faces its second match after securing a valuable point in a 1-1 draw at CSD Municipal in its tournament opener. Martín Ruiz scored the goal for the Panamanian club. Goalkeeper had a standout performance with three saves, including two crucial interventions in stoppage time to help secure the draw. 

 

 

This will be Sporting’s first-ever match against a Nicaraguan club in an international tournament. 

Diriangén FC enters the match currently leading Group B with four points after a draw and a win in its first fixtures. Los Caciques will aim for another victory after defeating CS Herediano 4-2. Renzo Carballo bagged a brace, while Junior Arteaga and Justing Cano scored the other goals. 

 

 

Diriangén will be taking on Panamanian opposition for a third time in CCAC history in search of extending its unbeaten record (1W, 1D). Overall, Cacique Diriangén has faced Panamanian clubs eight times, with a record of two wins, two draws, and four losses.

For Sporting San Miguelito, this will be their first-ever match against a Nicaraguan club in international tournaments. Previously, they have faced opponents from Honduras (FC Motagua and Olancho FC in the Central American Cup), Belize (Verdes FC in the Central American Cup), Costa Rica (Alajuelense in both the Central American Cup and the Concacaf Champions Cup), Mexico (CF América in the Champions Cup), Guatemala (Deportivo Malacateco in the Scotiabank Concacaf League), and Panama (Tauro FC in the Scotiabank Concacaf League).

Cacique Diriangén FC will face a Panamanian club for the third time in the Central American Cup and remains unbeaten (1 win, 1 draw). Their first match was a 0-0 draw against San Francisco FC on August 15, 2024, on Matchday 3 of Group A at Estadio Universitario in Penonomé (PAN). The second was a 2-1 win over Tauro FC on August 22, 2024, on Matchday 4 of Group A at Estadio Rommel Fernández in Panama City (PAN), with Junior Arteaga scoring a brace for the Nicaraguan side and Cristian Quintero scoring for the Panamanians.
