PANAMA CITY – The 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup continued with Sporting San Miguelito earning a 3-2 win over CD Plaza Amador in the Second Leg of their Play-In series, with Sporting winning the series 4-2 on aggregate, on Wednesday at Estadio Rommel Fernández in Panama City, Panama.
Armando Cooper came close to placing Sporting San Miguelito in the lead in the 8’, with a long-range attempt towards the bottom left corner that was saved by Plaza Amador goalkeeper Marcos Allen, before bouncing off the left post.
Alberto Quintero scored the breakthrough goal in the 15’ for Plaza Amador to pull ahead, finding the back of the net from close range following an assist from Everardo Rose.
Martín Ruíz levelled the scoring for the visitors in the 22’, with his second goal in the series, striking from inside the box to capitalize on a cross from Kevin Galván.
Éric Davies restored the lead for Plaza Amador via the penalty spot in the 38’.
Plaza Amador went a man down when José Murillo was shown a red card in the 77’.
Jordan Girón equalized for Sporting San Miguelito in the 86’. Joseph Cox provided a headed assist to find Girón in space off the fast break.
Girón secured his brace and the 3-2 win for the visitors in the 90’+7’, slotting the ball at the bottom left corner following a threaded pass from Cooper.
With the result, Sporting San Miguelito secures a berth in the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup.
