PENONOMÉ, Panama – The 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup continued with Sporting San Miguelito earning a 1-nil victory against CD Plaza Amador in the First Leg of their Play-In series on Wednesday at Estadio Universidad Latina in Penonomé, Panama.

Sporting San Miguelito came close to finding the opener in the 12’, with a long-range attempt from Armando Cooper that was saved by Plaza Amador goalkeeper Marcos Allen at the bottom right corner.

Martín Ruíz handed the hosts the lead in the 66’, finding the back of the net from the center of the box to capitalize on an assist from Ramsés de León.

Jeslan Caicedo had a clear chance to double Sporting San Miguelito’s lead in the 90’+3’, but his chipped finish was just wide to the right and hit the side netting of the goal.

Sporting San Miguelito goalkeepers Marcos De León and Kevin Mosquera delivered solid performances, with the latter replacing the former in first half stoppage time due to injury, to contribute to the clean sheet.

San Miguelito will defend its 1-nil advantage when the sides meet for the Second Leg next Wednesday in Panama City. The winner on aggregate will earn a berth to the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup.
