MIAMI – With the start of the 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup just days away, let’s take a look at the journey of the 20 participants that secured a spot in the regional tournament.
Group D includes Club Olimpia, Club Xelajú MC, Real Estelí FC, CD Águila and CD Hércules.
Club Olimpia
The 2025 Honduran First Division Torneo Clausura winners, Club Olimpia return for a third consecutive edition of the CCAC. Los Leones will strive to advance past the group stage for the first time. In 2024, Olimpia finished third in Group C with seven points and a 2-1-1 record.
Club Xelajú MC
Club Xelajú MC qualified via being crowned the Guatemalan First Division Torneo Apertura 2024 champions. Xelajú marks its return to the competition since 2023 to make a second appearance. In 2023, the Chivos concluded the campaign in fourth place in Group B with a 1-0-3 record.
Real Estelí FC
Runners-up in 2023 and 2024, Real Estelí FC booked a spot in the tournament as the best team in the cumulative standings throughout the 2024-25 season in the Nicaraguan First Division.
Last year, Real Estelí moved onto the knockout stage after finishing second in Group D with seven points and a 2-1-1 record. Estelí then overcame CD Águila 2-1 on aggregate in the quarterfinals and eliminated CS Herediano on away goals in the semifinals with a dramatic late equalizer in the second leg of the series, before falling 3-2 on aggregate against LD Alajuelense in the final.
CD Águila
CD Águila will make a second appearance in the competition after securing the best record in the cumulative standings throughout the 2024-25 season in El Salvador’s First Division. In 2024, its CCAC debut campaign, the team made it to the knockout stage by claiming first place in Group C with an unbeaten 3-1-0 record, before falling to Estelí in the quarterfinals.
CD Herculés
CD Herculés are set to be one of two debutants this 2025 edition. Herculés qualified for its first-ever CCAC by clinching the 2024 Torneo Apertura title in El Salvador’s First Division.
