MIAMI - The 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup continues with CD Plaza Amador hosting Real CD España in the Second Leg of their Quarter Finals series on Wednesday at Estadio Rommel Fernández in Panama City, Panama.
Plaza Amador will look to continue making history in its debut campaign after its 1-nil away win in the First Leg. Ovidio López secured the victory with the winning goal in the 90’. Samuel Castañeda achieved a unique milestone by becoming the first goalkeeper in CCAC Quarterfinals history to earn a clean sheet without registering a save.
The triumph extended the Panamanian side’s winning streak to five. It marks the second-longest winning stretch in tournament history, only behind LD Alajuelense’s six straight wins in 2023, and saw the team make history by becoming the first debuting club to win an away Knockout Stage match in Honduras. The victory was also Plaza’s first in a first leg match of any phase in an international competition.
Real CD España faces a tough challenge in search of winning the series, as no team has advanced in the competition after losing the first leg at home in any round of the Knockout Stage.
The away goals rule will be used as the first tiebreaker for an even score on aggregate. A 1-nil win for Real España would send the match to extra time and penalties, if necessary.
