TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras – The 2025 Central American Cup continued with CD Olimpia securing a 3-1 victory against CS Cartaginés in the second leg of their Quarterfinals series, with Olimpia winning the series 5-2 on aggregate, on Thursday at Estadio José de la Paz Herrera Uclés in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
Olimpia entered the match in search of defending its 2-1 lead in front of its home crowd.
Jorge Benguché scored the opener for Olimpia in the 6’, picking up a pass from Michael Chirinos before finding the back of the net with a finish from the right end of the box. The goal was the sixth for Benguché this 2025 edition, who now leads the race for the Top Scorer Award.
Mauro Quiroga equalized for Cartaginés in the 54’ with a header to the bottom right corner from the center of the box. Jesús Batiz provided the cross on the play.
Yustin Arboleda converted from the penalty spot in the 71’ to restore Olimpia’s lead in the match and two-goal advantage on the aggregate.
Benguché secured his brace in the 81’ to round out the victory for the Honduran club, striking with a header from close range to capitalize on a headed assist from Arboleda.
The result sees Olimpia advance to the Semifinals of the CCAC for the first time and book a spot in the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup.
