MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup continues as FC Motagua hosts CS Cartaginés in the Second Leg of their Play-In series on Tuesday at Estadio José de la Paz Herrera Uclés in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Cartaginés enters the match with a 1-nil lead after earning a win on home soil in Costa Rica. Substitute Geancarlo Castro scored a late winner in the 90’+2’.

Cartaginés goalkeeper Kevin Briceño also had a solid performance in the first leg, posting two saves as he recorded a clean sheet.

FC Motagua will look to turn the series around and replicate its success from 2024, when the Ciclón Azul defeated CD Águila 4-2 on aggregate in the Play-In stage.

The away goals rule will be used as the first tiebreaker for a draw on aggregate. A 1-nil win for Motagua would trigger extra time and a penalty shootout, if necessary, to decide a winner.

The winner of the series will book a spot in the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup.
