DIRIAMBA, Nicaragua – The 2025 Central American Cup continued with Diriangén FC and CSD Municipal drawing 1-1 in Group B on Thursday at Estadio Cacique Diriangén in Diriamba, Nicaragua.

Anyelo Velásquez had an early look for the hosts in the 15’, but his shot from a tight angle from the left side of the box was met by a save from Municipal goalkeeper Kénderson Navarro. 

Junior Arteaga broke the deadlock to hand Diriangén the lead in the 27’ with an acrobatic bicycle kick from inside the penalty area. 

Municipal neared the equalizer in the 54’ with an attempt from inside the box that rattled the crossbar.  

Rudy Barrientos had another chance for the visitors in the 68’, with a free kick execution to the bottom right corner that was saved by Diriangén goalkeeper Douglas Forvis.

Navarro delivered a key save for Municipal in the 77’ to deny Renzo Carballo inside the box.

Municipal found the equalizer in the 90+7’, with Eddie Hernández converting from the penalty spot to tie the match in dramatic fashion.

Diriangén will host CS Herediano as action in the Central American Cup continues next Wednesday. Municipal will resume play on Thursday, when it hosts Sporting San Miguelito.
